WTC 911-Wake

March 2001
The Twin Towers will remain an icon of America for all time. It also seems that the act of 911 will haunt the November election year, for years to come. President Obama is experiencing this right now with the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others on Sept.11 2012

In March 1965, the Port Authority began acquiring property at the World Trade Center site. Demolition work began on March 21, 1966, to clear thirteen square blocks of low rise buildings in Radio Row for construction of the World Trade Center. Groundbreaking for the construction of the World Trade Center took place on August 5, 1966.

Plans to build the World Trade Center were controversial. The site for the World Trade Center was the location of Radio Row, home to hundreds of commercial and industrial tenants, property owners, small businesses, and approximately 100 residents, many of whom fiercely resisted forced relocation. A group of small businesses affected filed an injunction challenging the Port Authority's power of eminent domain. The case made its way through the court system to the United States Supreme Court; the Court refused to accept the case.

The complex was designed in the early 1960s by Minoru Yamasaki and Associates of Troy, Michigan, and Emery Roth and Sons of New York. The twin 110-story towers used a tube-frame structural design. Yamasaki was one of the most prominent architects of the 20th century. Yamasaki was born in Seattle, Washington, a second-generation Japanese American, son of John Tsunejiro Yamasaki and Hana Yamasaki. He grew up in Auburn, Washington and graduated from Garfield Senior High School in Seattle. He enrolled in the University of Washington program in architecture in 1929 and graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1934. During his college years, he was strongly encouraged by faculty member Lionel Pries. He earned money to pay for his tuition by working in an Alaskan salmon cannery.

There are many extraordinary facts of The Twin Towers one being that the excavation of materials and other sites aided in the construction of Battery Park City a 92 acre planned community at the southwestern tip of lower Manhattan in New York City.

When the World Trade Center twin towers were completed, the total costs to the Port Authority had reached $900 million. The ribbon cutting ceremony was on April 4, 1973.
With the construction of World Trade Center in the 1980s, the World Trade Center had a total of seven buildings, but the most notable were the main two towers. Each stood over 1,350 feet (410 m) high and occupied about one acre (43,560 square feet) of the total 16 acres (65,000 m2) of the site's land. During a press conference in 1973, Yamasaki was asked, "Why two 110-story buildings? Why not one 220-story building?" His response was: "I didn't want to lose the human scale." At the time the Twin Towers were the tallest buildings in the world.

The South Tower featured an indoor and outdoor public observation area called Top of the World Trade Center Observatories on its 107th and 110th floors. At a height of 1,377ft, you could see for 50 miles on a clear day. Some 50,000 people worked in the buildings, while another 200,000 visited or passed through each day.
Windows on the World
The world-famous restaurant, Windows on the World, opened on the top floors 106th and 107th of the North tower. Developed by Joe Baum and initially designed by Warren Platner, it occupied 50,000 square feet of space and offered breathtaking views of Manhattan. In its last year of operation (2000), Windows on the World reported its revenue as $37 million, making it the highest-grossing restaurant in the United States.

Larry Silverstein completed the largest real estate transaction in New York history by acquiring the World Trade Center for $3.2 billion, only to see it destroyed six weeks later in the terrorist attacks on 9/11 2001. Previously, the World Trade Center site was under the control of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey.

Tribute to the Fallen Ones

However you feel or think this, 911 will remain in our hearts forever. This film is a Tribute to those who lost their lives and to the First Responders, who you did not have to ask to go in. Some of the scenes in this film are tough to take (falling people) but I don't know what is harder, the act of 911 or the ones who died? Once again, whatever you feel and think, these lives are gone. The Two Pool Memorial representing all and the bodies which could not be identified from Ground Zero is the greatest public Memorial ever built. This is on the scale of a War Memorial, you can feel that presence of all who died on 911. This is where we buried our dead, as sacred ground as ever known.

As of August 2011, 1,631 victims have been identified, while 1,122 (41%) of the victims remained unidentified.
It is expected that the remains will be moved in 2013 to a repository behind a wall at the 9/11 museum.

The Memorial Mission:

Remember and honor the thousands of innocent men, women, and children murdered by terrorists in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993 and September 11, 2001.

Respect this place made sacred through tragic loss.

Recognize the endurance of those who survived, the courage of those who risked their lives to save others and the compassion of all who supported us in our darkest hours.

May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the spirit reawakened be eternal beacons, which reaffirm respect for life, strengthen our resolve to preserve freedom, and inspire an end to hatred, ignorance and intolerance.

Presidential Debate- This you can Feel!

Town Hall and perfect that were in New York and the pressure is on. All I can say as to any President in office and seeking to win office is that you need some Balls and carry them.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on “Fox News Sunday” gave as good a summation of the fiasco as anyone has:

This is going to be a case study, studied for years of a breakdown of national security at every level, failed presidential leadership, senior members of the Obama administration failed miserably. The Benghazi, Libya, consulate was becoming a death trap. The British left. The Red Cross left because of the deteriorating security environment. We were requesting additional security; it was denied because we wanted to normalize relationships with a nonexistent government.

We should have closed the consulate long before September 11th, or heavily reinforced it, and I put that on the president of the United States. This was a national security breakdown before, during and after the attack. . . .
This [consulate] was under siege for months. It had been attacked twice. Everybody else has left Benghazi but us. We were refused additional security request because we wanted to normalize relationships.

Time we need a butt kicker who is it?
For over seven hours on September the 11th, the day of heightened concern throughout the world for America, the anniversary of our September 11th attack, this consulate was attacked for over seven hours and there were no land forces available to reinforce the consulate, no Air Force — no air power sent over to help these people for over seven hours.

Here is a debate that is much of a firing line that you may ever see and hear in a Presidential debate. Take off the suit jackets and put on the gloves!

We're all tired of listening to change, want to feel it!   This part of the debate highlights that moment, 17:46 take from the debate. (good one to review)

ACLU goes after Morgan Stanley

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in New York, is the first that connects racial discrimination to the securitization of mortgage-backed securities, which were sold to institutional investors and pension funds. It is also the first case where a prospective class of victimized homeowners is suing an investment bank directly rather than the subprime lender whose loans the bank bought.

While the case concerns lending abuses in Detroit, these practices were common throughout the financial services industry and victimized black and Latino neighborhoods nationwide, according to Anthony D. Romero, ACLU executive director.

"With this lawsuit, real victims of the subprime lending scandal are stepping forward to hold investment banks like Morgan Stanley accountable for the devastation the banks wrought in their lives and in our economy,” Romero said. “Illegal practices surrounding mortgage-backed securities robbed people of their homes, violated our civil rights laws and left all Americans holding the bag as our economy teetered on the brink of another Great Depression.”

“Congress enacted these civil rights statutes to require that banks like Morgan Stanley are responsible for ensuring that their policies and practices do not perpetuate historical patterns of discrimination and banks have the duty to provide a level playing field for all consumers,” noted Stuart Rossman, director of litigation at the National Consumer Law Center. “Ultimately, economic justice is a civil right in our country. This landmark case brought on behalf of African-American homeowners asserts their rights under those laws and seeks to protect the greater Detroit community from continuing to be burdened because of past acts and patterns of discrimination.”

On The Case

The ACLU lawsuit follows a spate of new litigation against Wall Street by U.S. federal and state authorities over banks' roles in triggering the financial crisis that began more than four years ago.

JPMorgan Chase & Co was sued last week by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman for alleged subprime mortgage abuses at an investment bank that it purchased during the financial crisis.  The U.S. attorney in Manhattan filed fraud charges against Wells Fargo & Co two weeks ago for a "reckless pattern" of making questionable home loans that allegedly cost the government hundreds of millions of dollars in insurance settlements.

Well I'll tell ya this very fitting for the American tax payer bailed out these institution and now with your money are lobbing new laws to make them untouchable.
Seems like the untouchables are touchable. Isn't that something! Take the American tax payer money and instead of helping the crisis hire lobbyist in record numbers to fight regulation.

The sale of derivatives and swaps across the world was huge, so huge the Feds have spent $7.77 trillion, ah have you seen a dime of this?  With this type of finance sold around the world what the hell are the finance institution developing?  Like Pavlov's Dogs, salivating for the next bundle.

An old saying, Bite the Hand that Feeds!

Melt Down the Finical Cissis

Melt Down Part 1: the financial crisis, with the first hour tonight devoted to the exotic Wall Street products that led to the fall, while the second hour is a ticktock beginning with the failure of Bear Stearns, and ending with former Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's dispersal of TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) money.

THE RED BULL STRATOS

Update: The weather finally cooperated over New Mexico and Felix rose to the stratosphere to enter the record books!

Red Bull Stratos a mission to the
edge of space will attempt to transcend human limits that have existed for 50 years. Supported by a team of experts Felix Baumgartner plans to ascend to 120,000 feet (36.576 km)  in a stratospheric balloon and make a freefall jump rushing toward earth at supersonic speeds before parachuting to the ground. His attempt to dare atmospheric limits holds the potential to provide valuable medical and scientific research data for future pioneers.

United States Air Force Colonel Joseph Kittinger record jump from 102,800 ft in 1960 was during a time when no one knew if a human could survive a jump from the edge of space.

The Edge of Space lies at 328,084 feet

The Kármán line lies at an altitude of 100 kilometers (62 mi) above the Earth's sea level and is commonly used to define the boundary between the Earth's atmosphere and outer space. This definition is accepted by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), which is an international standard setting and record-keeping body for aeronautics and astronautics.

Check out the site,  you have a chance to predict where Felix will land and win the Zenith Swiss watch.

10/14/2012 Supersonic freefall from 128,000 ft.

After flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. Felix reached a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h (833 mph.) through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger.

I'm sure more film will be released during his freefall, he had a suite cam.

Suite Cam Video of Supersonic Space Jump

Felix Baumgartner - Red Bull Stratos Freefall, this guy is just too cool caught in a flat spin where you would blackout,  finally through all his training he pulls out of the spin. Wonder if anyone else could have recovered from that spin.

During this descent your looking under his chin, the atmosphere is so thin that normal arm and leg adjustments will not work, no air.  Until he comes into some air pressure his limbs start acting like airfoils once again.  If we go further out to the edge of space,  for space diving,  your going to need thrusters to correct your decent in order to enjoy the ride down or you will pass out, that spin would have continued until your in some kind of AIR.
From here to Infinity Thanks Colonel

I'll tell ya something else that brought this boy home was the voice of Colonel Joseph Kittinger in his helmet he was the only one speaking to Felix, love the old timers,  and this man cared for the boy!

The unknown you never know, until your in it.

You're a cool head Felix, smart man.
